Emily is a proud member of Kappa Alpha Theta. In addition, the Foundation funds Kappa Alpha Theta’s Educational Leadership Consultants’ program to send alumnae around to each college chapter in an effort to support the growth, leadership and pursuit of highest scholarship for all members, empowering every Theta to truly make a difference. The Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation supports the leading women of this sorority with college scholarships as well as grants for alumnae. Emily is an active volunteer and passionate advocate for lung cancer research and cancer survivors. The Lung Cancer Initiative works to decrease deaths and provide support to those affected by lung cancer through research, awareness, education and access programs across North Carolina, working towards life beyond lung cancer through a network of hope and action. Lung cancer is the #1 cancer-killer, taking the lives of almost twice as many women compared to breast cancer and three times as many men compared to prostate cancer.
